2005 05 01 The Vytautas Magnus University School of Law and the Brazilian Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina

entered into a student and faculty exchange agreement on May 1, 2005!

This is probably the first exchange agreement between any Lithuanian and Brazilian university. The agreement provides that the receiving institution waives tuition for the incoming students. The agreement also provides for faculty exchange. One faculty member from Santa Catarina has already taught at VMU Law: Welber Barral, professor of International Economic Law. Many courses at Santa Catarina are taught in English, so that there should be no language barrier for this exchange.

The Federal University of Santa Catarina is one of the most prestigious universities in Brazil, and is located in the beautiful city of Florianopolis, called "Floripa" for short. On the island of Santa Catarina, "Floripa" is one of Brazil's most popular destinations, and is a city of 270,000 people.
